About Theresa Haskins
A Little About My Story
I come to you from Ohio – the land of visionaries, astronauts, and presidents – where I live with my family, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. I am an early pioneer of virtual work and distance learning. I believe in finding the best talent in the world – regardless of the distance between us. But mostly, I am focused on ensuring access to opportunities in education, at work, and the ability to live a fulfilled life.
My journey to who I am today came from need – to find answers, improve outcomes, and have hope. I am the proud mother of two twice-exceptional sons—both with neurodivergence and giftedness. We struggled to find the supports and opportunities we felt our autistic son needed – and were left with more questions than answers. We knew our son was bright – despite his developmental delays. When we could not find a solution to help him thrive, I decided to carve my path to become an educational psychologist and eventually a doctor in education, focused on motivation, leadership, and organizational change.
Over the years, I have developed methods that allowed me to successfully create a homeschool program that has enabled my sons to enroll in college classes at the ages of 14 and 12. I also made interventions that helped teachers in general education classrooms to be more inclusive and improve motivation and education outcomes for autistic and typical students in their classrooms. However, as my sons grow older, I am less worried about their educational attainment and more concerned that despite education, my sons might struggle to obtain gainful employment commensurate with their abilities. I am working tirelessly to prepare future and current leaders to embrace universally applicable and accessible practices that will promote the inclusion of autistic and other neurodivergent workers alongside typical peers.
Today, I am an adjunct associate professor of human resource management at the University of Southern California, an independent researcher, consultant, and a learning and OD leader working with Fortune 50 companies and non-profit institutions. I am here to change your thinking about ability, potential, and opportunity. Most importantly, I am here to help you develop the knowledge and fortitude needed to help yourself and others find success and achieve full potential in a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable world.
“Everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential..”
